MEET OUR FOUNDER.
Scott Bush
Scott Bush is a pioneer in the American Craft Spirits Industry and attended the very first American Distilling Institute Conference organized by Bill Owens in 2004 at Hanger One Distillery in Alameda, CA. He was one of a group of about twenty unique personalities who came together with a shared dream of getting their “craft” products on the top shelf of bars around the world. He is best known for being the founder of Templeton Rye Whiskey, one of the first Rye Whiskies brands along with High West Double Rye, Tuthilltown Spirits Hudson Manhattan Rye, Old Potrero Rye, Angel’s Envy Rye and WhistlePig Rye. He built Templeton into the second largest rye whiskey brand in the world, behind only Bulleit Rye, owned by industry powerhouse Diageo.
Scott was an original member of the Distilled Spirit Council Craft Distiller Affiliate Membership Program chaired by Fritz Maytag, president of Anchor Steam Distilling and founder of Old Potrero Rye. He traveled with fellow Craft Distiller Affiliate Members to promote American Whiskey in China, Japan and Germany. He was also one of a handful of spirit makers chosen to recreate George Washington’s Peach Brandy at his distillery at Mt Vernon in 2010 along with Scott Harris from Catoctin Creek, Brian and Thomas McKenzie from Finger Lakes Distillery, Ted Huber from Huber Starlight, Rob Cassell from Philadelphia Distilling and the great Dave Pickerell of Maker’s Mark and WhistlePig fame.
